Shared mobility
Shared mobility combines the benefits of one’s own car transport with the benefits of urban public transport. Thanks to shared vehicles, people can significantly reduce not only their expenses, but also needs of car care. For cities, shared mobility can mean lower demands for the number of parking spaces.
Within the Volkswagen Group, we are developing a car-sharing platform. Thanks to this, we increase the availability of cars to the general public: We bring mobility even for those who have not yet been able to afford their own car for financial reasons or are simply not interested in having their own car.
In the area of shared mobility we focus on:
- Car sharing – remote unlocking and locking, geofencing, finding the car
- Fleet management
- Remote diagnostics
- Services related to shared mobility and economy – car as a delivery address, sharing a garage, parking spaces

New car functions and technologies
We are focusing on new car functions from the conceptual design. We verify the possibilities of using new technologies and suggest how to implement them into serial development.
Together with other Volkswagen Group brands, we face innovative challenges and overcome them together. We bring new ideas related to the car’s electronics and electrics, including low-speed maneuvering and parking assistance systems.
We provide customers with final settings for systems providing basic assistance, as well as semi-automated functions. In particular, these are radar systems, ultrasonic and camera parking systems and security systems which, for example, facilitate parking or warn against a collision.
What we do in the area of new functions and technologies:
- We verify the possibilities of using new technologies
- We create physical demonstrators and simulations in virtual reality
- We design technical solutions for production vehicles
