The Motor Simulator represents a device intended for BCM unit testing.
Testing is performed by means of various stimuli inducing conditions nearly identical to a car environment. The Motor Simulator stimulates an existing BCM unit by simulated physical conditions, such as car speed, engine RPM, engine temperature, etc. These parameters are adjusted in a straightforward and user-friendly way by turning dedicated knobs located on the front panel of the device.
The user operates the Motor Simulator directly by manipulating control elements located on the front panel of the device or remotely via an HS CAN interface. The controls on the front panel have either a dedicated function or a context function based on the information shown on the 4.3-inch graphical LCD display. The knobs on the front panel are by default dedicated to adjusting car speed, engine RPM, engine temperature, and combi cluster dimming. It is possible to switch these knobs into alternative functions and control voltage of two analog outputs and two PWM power outputs.
The Motor Simulator is capable of emulating the signals of 4 ABS sensors and the signals of crankshaft and camshaft sensors. The device has 2 asymmetrical analogue inputs. It is possible to modify the device on request and to get 2 differential analogue inputs with an external reference. Additionally, the Motor Simulator provides 4 HSS (switched to a PWR rail) and 4 LSS outputs (switched to a GND rail) to generate programmable stimuli. The device also provides 6 configurable digital inputs with pre-programmed actions.
The car speed simulation can utilize 2 programmable acceleration ramps and 1 pre-programmed panic braking ramp.
The device is basically configured from the front panel interface. More extensive configuration is done using the CAN interface and PC software.
