Levelshifter4X
Levelshifter4X
AccessoriesLevelshifter4X converts a single USB Type‑C connection into multiple UART channels, making ECU debug and trace ports available on one PC as standard COM interfaces. Suitable for automotive test benches, HIL systems, lab setups and prototype or standalone ECU work.
Levelshifter4X is a USB to UART converter that turns one USB 2.0 Type‑C connection into four independent 3.3 V CMOS UART serial interfaces. Using the FT4232HL USB controller, the device appears to the operating system as four virtual COM ports, enabling straightforward use with standard terminal and logging applications such as PuTTY or Terminal.
The UART interfaces are routed to D‑SUB9 female connectors, each carrying up to four signals, so that up to eight trace signals can be handled by a single compact unit. This makes the Levelshifter4X particularly suitable for accessing debug and trace channels of infotainment ECUs (e.g. ICC/HCP3), CONMOD modules and other embedded control units in automotive environments.
The electronics are housed in a small 3D‑printed PETG plastic case available in two basic designs, defined by the number of channels. Both variants feature an integrated 5 mm mounting hole, enabling direct installation on common 20×20 aluminium profile frames used in test benches or lab benches, as well as on other fixtures. Thanks to its low weight and compact dimensions, the device is easy to relocate and can be used either as a permanently installed part of a test bench or as a portable standalone solution on the lab bench.
Power is supplied directly from the USB port, eliminating the need for an external power supply. An LED indicates the presence of power. With its robust design, flexible mounting options and support for up to eight UART signals, Levelshifter4X offers a practical and cost‑effective interface between PCs and UART‑based devices in development, validation and service environments.
Key Features
- USB to 4× UART – converts one USB 2.0 connection to four independent UART channels (3.3 V CMOS level).
